How to View a YAG and/or YCT

Users may access TEKS RS Year at a Glance (YAG) components or district-created YAGs and/or YAG Customization Tools (YCTs), which contain the units and Student Expectations for the entire school year for a given grade/subject (or course), as well as potentially exhibiting the pacing of instruction based on the district calendar.

For YCTs, it is ideal to reference the web view (or add them to My Favorites) instead of the PDF versions since they are often fluid documents that need to be modified frequently and these methods will reflect the most recent changes.

SITE ACCESS: TEKS Resource System Components > Search All Components, or Curriculum Quick Search (TEKS RS components only)
Click on the Components drop-down in the site’s main navigation menu and select the Search All Components or Curriculum Quick Search option. Please note that District YAGs/YCTs can only be found using the Search All Components page.

Click the title of the desired Year at a Glance (YAG) and/or YAG Customization Tool (YCT).

The button menu at the top of page will yield different options depending on your user permissions. All users will be able to generate a PDF version of the document and/or add it to My Favorites. If the district has turned the feature on, users will be able to select Create My Version to generate an editable copy.

Users with the District Content Admin role will be able to select Create District Version to generate an editable copy that will be housed in the District Content section of System Management. If the given YAG or YCT is in fact a district-created document, the Edit button will serve as a shortcut to make alterations on the document's template page (typically located within the Manage District YAGs/YCTs section of District Content).

Please note the Last Updated date in the bottom right corner of the page. This indicates when the most recent changes were made to the document. Since the Suggested Duration for each unit may need to be adjusted throughout the school year, please check the Last Updated date regularly.

VIEWING A YAG
The Year at a Glance view is the default selection. If the document does not include the YCT information (such as a TEKS RS YAG), the tabs will not be present and the YAG will be the only view.

Decide which Time Intervals across the school year you wish to view. All 6 (or 9) week intervals are selected by default; however, you may unselect any you do not wish to see in order to create a custom/narrowed view.

Select Days or Minutes for the Unit of Time you wish to see the data displayed in. If desired, you may alternate back and forth between the two measurements of time. If the creator of the YAG only elected to generate the data in one unit of time, this toggle will not be applicable/present.

Each 6 (or 9) week time period displays all the associated units (IFDs) and their applicable Student Expectations (SEs). The units are hyperlinked to their respective web pages in the site for easy reference. The Suggested Duration, in number of days (or minutes), for a unit's length of instruction is displayed next to each unit title.

The SEs are color-coded and separated according to their assessment classification by TEA (i.e., Readiness, Supporting, Process, etc.), as explained by the key at the bottom of the YAG.

At the bottom of each time period, you will find the calculations that indicate the pacing accuracy for the given 6 or 9 week interval.
- Days (or Minutes) Needed indicates the total instructional time necessary for that time period
- Days (or Minutes) Available is how much instructional time is actually available for the duration between the start and end date based on the district's calendar
- Balance is the Days (or Minutes) Available minus the Days (or Minutes) Needed
- Balance Type indicates if there is a surplus or a deficit of instructional time (or if the balance is perfect, i.e., zero)

The Total Days (or Total Minutes) section is displayed near the bottom of the YCT. This section is separated into three time periods. The First Semester and Second Semester each convey the total instructional time needed and available over the course of the entire semester, respectively (e.g., 1st Six Weeks + 2nd Six Weeks + 3rd Six Weeks). The School Year indicates the total instructional time needed and available over the course of both semesters, collectively.
