Basic users can create a Year At a Glance Customization Tool (YCT) using an existing TEKS RS or District YAG. This method is ideal if you would like to use the YAG portion as is since you will only need to add the YCT information.
Note that not all districts opt to enable the Create My Version feature allowing users to access this functionality. See your TEKS RS District Content Admin(s) for further information.
REQUIRED ROLE: User
SITE ACCESS: Components > Search All Components
VIDEO TUTORIALS:
1.) Create a YCT Using an Existing YAG
For assistance with the rest of the YCT-specific steps, please see the Create a YCT From Scratch video.
Click on the Components drop-down in the site's main navigation menu, and select the Search All Components option.
Select your search criteria and be sure to check the Year at a Glance/YAG Customization Tool option within the Component Type filter.
Use the View District Content Only filter if you wish to limit results to just YAGs/YCTs produced and published by your district.
Click the title of the desired YAG to view it.
Click the Create My Version button at the top of the page. If this button is unavailable, it means your district has not enabled the Create My Version feature. Please see your TEKS RS District Content Admin(s) for further information.
When the Edit page opens, modify the Title of the YAG/YCT to whatever you wish.
You may adjust the Document Tags if necessary by making your desired changes.
For the Document Type, the Year at a Glance option has already been selected for you. Check the YAG Customization Tool (YCT) box as well.
For the Unit of Time, select whether you would like to enter the durations in Days and/or Minutes by checking the desired box(es).
Click to expand the first 6 or 9-week section and enter its Start Date and End Date, or use the calendar tool to select the dates.
Enter the number of Total Calendar Days (and/or Minutes) Available for this 6 or 9-week period. Be sure to exclude weekend days.
Enter the number of Assessment/Non-Instructional Days (and/or Minutes) that will fall within this 6 or 9-week period.
The number of Instructional Days (or Minutes) Available will be automatically calculated for you. This figure is the Total Calendar Days (or Minutes) Available minus the Assessment/Non-Instructional Days (or Minutes).
Optionally, enter the Start Date and End Date for any Assessment Days that will take place within this 6 or 9-week period (or use the calendar tool provided to select the dates). Include a text Description for the assessment being administered.
To include additional Assessment Days, click the Add button as many times as necessary and enter the required information.
As a secondary option, enter the Start Date and End Date for any Non-Instructional Days that will take place within this 6 or 9-week period (or use the calendar tool provided to select the dates). Include a text Description explaining the reason for the non-instructional day.
To include additional Non-Instructional Days, click the Add button as many times as necessary and enter the required information.
For the Alignment section, the units (IFDs) should already be aligned to this first 6 or 9-week period. You may adjust these if you wish. See the Create a Year At A Glance Customization Tool support guide for assistance with these steps.
The Suggested Duration will be displayed for each IFD. The unit of time for the duration (days and/or minutes) is based on your previous Unit of Time selection near the top of the page. If you wish to modify the duration for a particular IFD, enter the desired number into the Custom duration field.
One reason for customizing the duration of the IFD is for instances when an IFD will be split between more than one 6 or 9-week period. Some of the days for a unit can be allocated to a particular 6 or 9-week period, while the remainder of the days can be designated for the next 6 or 9-week period.
If desired, the IFDs (units) may be reordered by clicking on the IFD title bar and dragging it to the desired position within that 6 or 9-week period. Alternatively, click the Move Up or Move Down button to shift the unit up or down a single position. Click the Remove button if you wish to delete the unit alignment entirely.
Please note that published YAGs are deliberately structured and ordered to effectively address learning expectations within and across units. Moving units may disrupt the progression of learning inherent in this prescribed order and/or may remove important building blocks for upcoming units. If a unit is moved, the unit number will not change to allow districts to continue to search TEKS RS aligned components, assessment items, and resources by original unit number.
Click to expand each of the remaining 6 or 9-week periods and repeat the steps above.
The Total Days (or Minutes) section near the bottom of the page displays the ongoing totals for the first semester, second semester, and entire school year. If desired, you may return to any 6 or 9-week period to make the necessary adjustments to update the balance(s).
Click the Preview YAG button at the top of the page (or in the pinned menu bar) to see a preview of what the document will look like (including the units and Student Expectations). Both the IFDs and SEs link back to the respective content.
Click the Preview YCT button at the top of the page (or in the pinned menu bar) to see a preview of what the document will look like (including the dates and durations).
Once all 6 or 9-week periods have been populated, click the Save or Save and Close button at the top of the page (or in the pinned menu bar).
On the My YAGs/YCTs page under the Options column, you may generate a printable version of either document by clicking the YAG PDF or YCT PDF option.
Alternatively, a web version of the document can be saved by clicking the Options button and selecting Add to My Favorites.
