Users can create their own classroom plans using the Generic Plan template specifically designed for more streamlined use, such as copying and pasting in an existing plan or uploading an existing plan file as an attachment. Note that this functionality may be restricted by the district.
This particular template is widely used for all subjects, except for ELAR/SLAR, which has its own template format.
SITE ACCESS: Tools > My Content > My Plans
Click on the Tools drop-down in the site’s main navigation menu, and select the My Content option.
My Plans is the default landing page for the My Content section. Click on the Create New Plan button in the upper corner of the page.
Enter a Title for your plan by manually typing the title or copy/paste from an existing document.
Select the Generic Plan option from the drop-down selection, then click the Continue button.
NOTE: The Generic Plan can be used for any non-ELAR/SLAR plan (i.e. Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, etc.).
On the Editing Plan page, the Title field will be automatically populated; however, you may edit this field at any time (if desired).
Note that it is most ideal to periodically click the Save button (top right corner) as you progress through the plan creation process to ensure you do not lose any information.
Select the appropriate Grade, Subject, and Course (if applicable) from the lists provided.
Enter a Unit #, Lesson #, and Suggested Duration for the lesson.
To align the appropriate TEKS to your plan, click the Manage Alignments button in the TEKS section.
The Grade, Subject, and Course (if applicable) will be pre-selected for you based upon the earlier selections you made for the plan. You may use the provided search filters to modify these, if desired. Click the Search button to view the results and the Add button to choose the desired standard.
The selected alignments will appear in the Current Academic Standards column. Click the Save button when you are done.
In the Plan Text/Notes section (which is optional), use the the text editor box by typing or copying/pasting text to complete the body of the lesson.
You may also hyperlink text or paste in URLs (ex. a website used as a lesson resource, a link to a Google Drive file, etc.). The toolbar provides additional customization options.
If you have files saved to one of your My Favorites folders, you can create a link to that document by clicking the Add from My Favorites icon in the toolbar. Likewise, you can generate a link to any file that your district has added to the District Resources section of the site by clicking the District Resources Manager (schoolhouse) icon.
To upload a file that is associated with the lesson, or to upload the entire lesson itself if it is already in a different format (Word, PDF, etc.), follow the steps below. This is entirely optional.
Give the file a name by typing (or copying/pasting) in the File Title text entry field.
Click the Choose File button to search for the desired file located on your computer.
Click the Upload File button to finalize the process.
The file will now appear in a list below the Upload File button and display the file size. If you wish to alter the file, click the Options button and select the desired option (Delete, Rename, Move Up, and Move Down).
To upload additional files, repeat the steps above.
When all portions of the plan have been entered, click on the Revised Date field at the bottom of the page and enter the current date. If this is a shared plan, it is ideal to enter the name or initials of the person who last updated the page.
This date will appear in the lower, right corner when you Preview the plan page, indicating when the plan was last updated.
Click the Save button along the top menu bar to confirm your selections and content entered thus far. To view what the plan will look like at this point in time, click the Preview button.
Once plans have been completed, they can either be shared with colleagues within your district or submitted to an administrator for review.
