As part of completing the ELAR/SLAR plan, users can provide the instructional steps for each day of the lesson. These steps can include any or all of the balanced literacy focus areas: Word Study, Reading, Shared Reading, Independent Reading, and Writing.
SITE ACCESS: Tools > My Content > My Plans
If you are generating a new plan, please refer to the Create ELAR/SLAR Plans support guide for the initial creation steps.
If you are updating an existing plan, use the search filters on the My Plans page to locate the desired ELAR/SLAR plan and select the Edit link next to the Options button.
Scroll to the Instructional Routines section toward the bottom of the page. To add instructional routines for each day of instruction, click the Create New button and then the Instructional Routine button.
In the Daily Lesson # field, enter a number for the day the instruction takes place within the lesson, and check/uncheck the appropriate boxes for the table view. Click the Save button when you are done.
The column headers selected appear in the lesson plan table. In this example, the first day of the lesson will focus on Word Study, Shared Reading, etc..
To add Instructional Routines for day 2 of the lesson, click the Create New button and Instructional Routine option again. Repeat the steps above but select the focus areas appropriate to the second day of the lesson. Both days of the lesson will then appear in the Instructional Routines section.
To complete each daily lesson, click on any cell in the table to open the text editor tool and enter the desired information.
Click on the Add From My Favorites icon to select files from your My Favorites section or the District Resources Manager (schoolhouse) icon to select files shared by your district.
Click the Save button when you are finished.
Continue adding Instructional Routines until all days of the lesson are covered.
When all portions of the plan have been entered, click on the Revised Date field at the bottom of the page and enter the current date. If this is a shared plan, it is ideal to enter the name or initials of the person who last updated the page.
This date will appear in the lower, right corner when you Preview the plan page, indicating when the plan was last updated.
Click the Save button along the top menu bar to confirm your selections and content entered thus far. To view what the plan will look like at this point in time, click the Preview button.
Once plans have been completed, they can either be shared with colleagues within your district or submitted to an administrator for review.
