Users can create their own ELAR or SLAR classroom plans using templates specific to balanced literacy instruction in K-5 and 6-12. Note that this functionality may be restricted by the district.
SITE ACCESS: Tools > My Content > My Plans
Click on the Tools drop-down in the site’s main navigation menu, and select the My Content option.
My Plans is the default landing page for the My Content section. Click on the Create New Plan button in the upper corner of the page.
Enter a Title for your plan by manually typing the title or copy/paste from an existing document.
Select the appropriate grade level template option from the drop-down selection, then click the Continue button. In this example, the Plan ELAR/SLAR (K-5) template is selected because we are creating a Grade 4 ELAR plan.
On the Editing Plan page, the Title field will be automatically populated; however, you may edit this field at any time (if desired).
Note that it is most ideal to periodically click the Save button (top right corner) as you progress through the plan creation process to ensure you do not lose any information.
Select the appropriate Grade, Subject, and Course (if applicable) from the lists provided.
Enter a Unit #, Lesson #, and Suggested Duration for the lesson.
In the Attachments section, add any files or links that may be used during any part of the lesson.
If you have documents saved to one of your My Favorites folders, you can create a link to that document by clicking the Add from My Favorites icon in the toolbar. Likewise, you can generate a link to any file that your district has added to the District Resources section of the site by clicking the District Resources Manager (schoolhouse) icon.
Scroll down to the Performance Assessment(s) (PAs) section and click the Manage Assessments button to align the appropriate Performance Assessments to your plan.
Use the search filters provided to locate the PAs you would like to align to your plan.
Select the PA(s) by clicking the respective Add button(s).
Click the Save button when you are done.
Click the Save button along the top menu bar to confirm your selections and content entered thus far. To view what the plan will look like at this point in time, click the Preview button.
